Jean's Trust

Jean's Research Trust aims to make a contribution to current and future research by supporting the excellent work of Weston Park Hospital and raising awareness of trophoblastic disease.
The Trust also helps to fund the patient support website www.molarpregnancy.co.uk

Donations should be made payable to "Jean's Research Trust, University of Sheffield". The fund is administered via the University of Sheffield's registered charity.

Jean's daughter was born in October 2001. Fourteen months later Jean was diagnosed with placental-site trophoblastic tumour, a very rare form of a group of pregnancy related tumours which have become cancerous. In simple terms, she had placental cancer. Jean was treated at Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield. She died after her long brave fight against a very rare form of pregnancy related cancer.
Although there was research into the treatment of placental-site trophoblastic tumour, there was none into how and why it happens or how the tumour behaves. Jean's Research Trust was set up to enable the University of Sheffield in conjunction with the Weston Park Hospital, to carry out clinical research to help find these answers.
The remit of Jean's Research Research trust has now been widened to include research into all trophoblastic disease.
